Hi all
To paraphrase House Stark : Spring is Coming! The Tennis Committee are delighted to announce Spring Championships 2015.
This year we will be running the following competitions :
Competitions :
- Gents Singles (with Plate),
- Ladies Singles (with Plate),
- Gents Doubles,
- Ladies Doubles
- Mixed Doubles.
Entry Closing Date : Wednesday March 18th
Start Date : Monday March 23rd
Finals Nights :
- Ladies Singles & Gents Doubles : Wednesday 29th April.
- Gents Singles & Ladies Doubles : Thursday 30th April.
- Mixed to be played on whichever of the two evenings suits best.
We are playing over two evenings in order to allow for anyone who manage to get into both finals. We’d encourage everyone to come down those nights and indulge in a light ale or two while enjoying the tennis (unless you’re playing; you’ll spill your pint).
As with last year both Singles events will also have a Plate for everyone knocked out in their 1st match. This means even if you meet the club #1 in round one you have a chance to play again. So you have no excuse not to enter, all levels are welcome. First singles matches will therefore need to be completed by Sunday March 29th so we can can make the plate draw.
Spring Singles affect the order of the ladder, so if you want to play singles in Summer League it’s imperative you enter to give yourself every chance to be picked for singles.
Doubles formats will depend on the number of entries. Last year we had box leagues and on the Gents side we had players mixing up the usual partnerships and playing with people they usually wouldn’t. This worked out pretty well with some great matches and we’d love for the same to happen again. So why not ask that person whom you never get to play with but always seem to have a laugh with in the clubhouse? If you don’t have a partner just stick your name in and our committee elves will do the rest.
Entry per competition is €8.
This year we are making it even easier for you to pay. Once you have signed up for your competitions you will be taken to a new payments page on our website where you can pay what you owe securely. All payments are done securely through Stripe, an Irish web payments company. For added security the entire Ashbrook website now uses secure https across the board.
Once you have entered your details into the pop-up form and they have been accepted you should get a confirmation email from us as well. Remember we never see, know or store your credit cards details ourselves, all we know is that you paid at a certain time and the money goes directly into the Ashbrook bank account.
We will also be using the same system in May to pay subscriptions so we encourage everyone to use this new facility to make things easier for everyone. If you have any questions about this new system or get stuck feel free to ask Jonathan, he’s happy to help you pay, give you a walkthrough or go into mind-numbingly boring detail about how it all works.
We will also be accepting payments to any Tennis Committee member (Orla, Jonathan, Kate, Dolores, Ann, Alex and Tomas) but would prefer direct, online payments. You need to pay before you play (snappy!).
Good luck everyone, please take part and have a great Spring 2015
Regards,
Orla, Jonathan, Ann, Dolores, Kate, Alex and Tomas,
The Tennis Committee.
